The Recreation Advisory Council works alongside Town Staff to support and enhance recreation opportunities throughout the Town of Kearney. Through community input, collaboration, and volunteer involvement, the Advisory Council helps identify recreational needs, develop programs and events, and promote active, inclusive opportunities that contribute to the wellbeing of residents and the community.
Purpose
To foster and develop recreation opportunities to enhance individual wellbeing, community wellbeing, and the wellbeing of our built and natural environments. The Recreation Advisory Council is to responsible for planning and organizing recreational activities for the residents of the Town of Kearney.
Responsibilities of the Recreation Advisory Council
- Providing recommendations to the Community Engagement and Recreation Coordinator related to recreation, trails, green space, and active transportation.
- Providing input on recreation related policies and procedures.
- To actively engage the community through the development of partnerships with community organizations, schools, and business.
- To act as an advocate for recreation organizations within the Town of Kearney.
- To provide input on park, trail, and recreation related projects when requested.
- To promote available programs, services, events and facilities to the residents of Kearney.
- To act as ambassadors of the Advisory Council at various events and festivals.
- To implement events to promote pride through community action.
