Current Fire Rating - HIGH Effective June 2, 2026

FIRE RATING - HIGH
The Town of Kearney, Ontario fire rating has been set to HIGH, as of today June 2, 2026. 
Please take these precautions seriously:
- NO Daytime Burning Allowed (Only between 6pm - 10am) *3 day permits are not issued during HIGH ratings. 
- No “recreational” Campfires. Burning is for necessary survival cooking and warmth ONLY.
- Have a method of extinguishment and a shovel near by.
- Fireworks are prohibited in the Town of Kearney: By-law 2018/24
- BBQ/Gas Stove is OK ✅ 
❗️Fire permits are void and not issued during HIGH rating. Failure to comply and respect the by-law  will result in penalties. 
❗️Extreme caution shall be taken with all open flames. Campfires for survival cooking and warmth ONLY are allowed, in a rock or metal rim pit no larger than 2ft in diameter. The forest fuels are dry, and the risk of fire is serious. New fires can start easily, spread quickly, and challenge firefighting efforts.
