As of today, July 21, 2026, the Town of Kearney, Ontario fire rating has been set to MODERATE.
Remember, daytime burning (10:00am - 6:00pm) is strictly prohibited until October 31st.
The maximum size for campfires is 2 feet x 2 feet. You must be in attendance at all times while burning and never leave a fire unattended. Have water or a method of extinguishment near by. Important reminders: Fines apply for not following fire bans and regulations. Stay updated through our Facebook page and community fire rating signs throughout the fire season. For Seasonal Fire Permits, by-law inquiries, or any questions, contact the Kearney Fire Station and speak with Fire Chief Paul Schaefer.
How are fire ratings determined?
• Every morning Fire Departments/stations receive a COOPERATORS report from the Ministry of Natural Resources & Forestry. This gives us information on moisture content, number of fires, special weather statements, etc. With this important information we are than able to determine our rating.
