The Regatta Advisory Council proudly organizes, plans, and delivers one of the region’s longest‑standing Civic Holiday events, bringing together residents, visitors, and generations of families.
Purpose
To preserve and celebrate the longstanding tradition of the Kearney Regatta by supporting the planning, organization, and delivery of an engaging community festival that brings residents, visitors, volunteers, businesses, and community organizations together.
The Regatta Advisory Council works alongside Town Staff to help ensure the Regatta continues to honour its century-long history while evolving to meet the interests and needs of the community.
Responsibilities of the Regatta Advisory Council
The overall responsibility of the Regatta Advisory Council is to provide input, recommendations, and volunteer support to the Community Engagement and Recreation Coordinator in the planning and delivery of the annual Kearney Regatta. This may include:
- Providing recommendations related to Regatta programming, activities, scheduling, and event operations.
- Assisting with the planning and coordination of traditional Regatta activities, including water sports, land sports, races, and the annual parade.
- Providing input on entertainment, family-friendly programming, vendors, fireworks, and other festival attractions.
- Supporting efforts to preserve and celebrate the history, traditions, and community significance of the Kearney Regatta.
- Assisting with the recruitment and engagement of volunteers, sponsors, vendors, community organizations, and other event partners.
- Identifying opportunities to enhance the Regatta and improve the experience for participants, spectators, volunteers, and visitors.
- Promoting the Regatta within the community and acting as ambassadors for the event.
- Providing feedback following the event and making recommendations to support future Regattas.
- Providing volunteer assistance with Regatta activities, special projects, event setup, operations, and other areas as needed.
