Notice for Residents who Receive Curbside Pickup of Garbage and Recycling:
Personalized letters went out to all eligible residents the first week of September informing them that effective October 1, 2025, curbside recycling collection will be handled by the province rather than our own staff. The province is moving our recycling pick up date to Tuesdays. Since the recycling will be moving to Tuesdays, we are also moving garbage collection to match. Instead of putting out your recycling and garbage curbside on Monday, October 6th please put it out Tuesday, October 7th and Tuesdays going forward. Since many residents put out their garbage and recycling this morning, the Town did pick up garbage today and will pick up tomorrow for those who started the new date. This will be the only time, next week garbage and recycling will both be picked up on Tuesday.
Effective November 26, 2025, the Town will no longer be offering curbside garbage pick up. To be clear, the province will continue to pick up recycling after this date. There are two transfer station options for disposing of your household garbage, 1) King William at 149 King William and 2) Kallio/Sand Lake at 147 Kallio Road. Please remember to bring your transfer station card with you when bringing garbage or recycling to either transfer stations.
As part of this transition, our staff has adjusted the mill rate to remove the cost of curbside collection for current affected ratepayers, ensuring that residents see a fair reflection in municipal expenses.
We understand that this change may require some adjustments, and we appreciate your cooperation during this transition. Further details regarding the new recycling guidelines will be shared in the coming months to ensure a smooth process for all residents.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the municipal office by phone or email. Thank you for your understanding and support as we continue to serve our community.
